MacroBaby

A Story That Starts Long Before the Store Did In 1996, an eighteen-year-old landed in Orlando with a single suitcase, barely any English, and nobody waiting for him at the airport. What Richard Harary did have was a dream too big to let go of — and today, that dream is the largest baby specialty store in the United States. From a Suitcase to a Storefront Richard arrived in Orlando not knowing a single soul in the city, carrying little more than a suitcase and a stubborn belief that things could work out. He started small — a luggage shop that ran on a few thousand dollars and a lot of hope — and kept going even when the business nearly collapsed overnight after 9/11 grounded air travel. Years later, he'd built one of the largest eBay storefronts in the country. It was profitable. It also wasn't something he was proud of. That distinction — between a business that makes money and a business worth building — is the thread that runs through everything MacroBaby became next. A Daughter, a Gap, and a Store Built With a Heart When Richard's first daughter was born, he went shopping for her the way any new parent does. What he found, over and over, was aisles of products, price tags, and staff who could point but couldn't guide — nobody who understood what a new parent was actually feeling. So he set out to build the store he wished had existed. That year, MacroBaby opened its doors across from Orlando's Florida Mall, guided by a few simple promises: Make every visit feel like something worth remembering Carry exclusive brands most American stores had never touched Build the largest baby store in the country without losing a boutique's personal touch Families travel from across the country — and around the world — to shop with us in person. Here's some of what makes a visit feel different. Build your registry with guidance from a real specialist. See your baby and find out gender in a relaxed, keepsake setting. A gentle "adoption" experience for lifelike reborn baby dolls, since 2018. Real demonstrations and installs, so you feel confident before you buy. In 2020, Richard was invited to a private dinner with Florida's governor to talk about the impact of Brazilian tourism on the state's economy. In 2026, the City of Orlando went further: the mayor proclaimed March 6th "Richard Harary Day," honoring the journey from an 18-year-old immigrant to the founder of the country's largest baby store — and his ongoing commitment to the city through the MacroBaby Foundation and its partnership with Make-A-Wish. 1361 Florida Mall Ave, Orlando, FL 32809 (across from The Florida Mall) MacroBaby was founded in 2009 by CEO Richard Harary, a Brazilian-born entrepreneur who moved to Orlando at 18 and built the store after the birth of his own daughter. Our store is at 1361 Florida Mall Ave, Orlando, FL 32809 — directly across from Florida Mall. Yes.
